International Flights

There are two options for flying from Europe or USA to Fortaleza. The first one is to fly directly to Fortaleza using one of the flights listed below. The second alternative is to fly to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or another Brazilian city, and then get a connection to Fortaleza. Please, evaluate carefully which alternative is more convenient for your travel. In many cases, the second alternative is much longer than the first one. The fastest alternative, although not well-known and seldom indicated by travel agencies, may be preferable for many European and USA travelers.

We also recommend that you book your flight as soon as possible, since some flights may already be sold out. An information that may be taken into account in your reservation is that a School Cocktail and a School Dinner will take place on Friday March 16, 2001 and on Tuesday March 20, 2001, respectively. Please remember to check whether you need a visa to enter in Brazil.

School Hotel

The CIMPA School will take place in Hotel Chalés do Atlântico (Quadra 22, Lote 1, s/n, Praia da Tabuba, 61600-000 Caucaia CE, Brazil), which is located at Tabuba Beach, about 30Km away from the metropolitan city of Fortaleza. All suites have terrace, refrigerator, cable TV, warm and cold water, and air conditioning. The infrastructure of the hotel includes swimming pools and a restaurant.

Accommodation will be arranged directly by the hotel. To request a reservation, please send an e-mail to chalesdo@uol.com.br indicating your full name, arrival and departure dates, and e-mail address. Please mention in your e-mail that you are a CIMPA School participant and all other relevant information regarding your accommodation preferences. For Portuguese speakers, a reservation can be requested by phone (+55 85 318 8126).

The suites will be filled upon request and hotel may not be able to fulfill your preferences. Therefore, we recommend you to request your reservation as early as possible. Hotel Chalés do Atlântico offers the following special School prices, which include breakfast and taxes (exchange rate: US$ 1.00 = R$ 2,00, approx.):

How to Get the School Hotel

There will be buses between the hotel and the airport throughout the afternoon and evening of the 11th. The departure schedule is the following: 3:00 p.m.; 6:30 p.m. The meeting point is The Tourist Information desk in front of the Dosmestic Arrival Gate.

We have also arranged with the taxi company COOPAERO to provide passages between the airport and hotel for R$ 36,00. This is about US$ 18. Other companies should charge R$ 50. Mention GRACO to COOPAERO.
